waste plant details

Tamar Energy has submitted plans to Nottinghamshire County Council for an Anaerobic Digester Plant, the full details and documents relating to the planning application are available to download from the County Council Website here:

http://www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/planningsearch/plandisp.aspx?AppNo=ES/3140

In brief the key facts about the proposed plant are:

  • The AD plant would utilise by-products from the food industry, and agricultural wastes such as spoilt crops, in order to generate energy
  • Incoming material would be delivered to an enclosed reception building by dedicated refuse collection vehicles and bulk carrier vehicles
  • The material would then be processed and mixed with process water before being transferred to digestion tanks where the biogas would be generation by the degradation of the organic material.
  • The biogas would be used to power two containerised engines which would generate approximately renewable electrical energy
  • The electricity would power the AD plant with the remaining power exported to the local electricity distribution grid
  • The throughput of the plant would be around 60,000 tonnes per year
  • The feedstock would be sourced primarily from the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire areas and would include food and agricultural waste
  • The plant would operate 24 hrs per day, lorry movements would be limited to: 07:30 to 18:30 Mondays to Fridays and 08:00 to 14:00 Saturdays
  • Anticipated lorry movements are 81 per day
  • The plant would create employment opportunities for 5 people

The proposed location of the waste plant is shown clearly on the map below. It is clear to see how close the waste plant would be to Gedling Country Park and the surrounding residential areas of Gedling, Mapperley, Arnold and Lambley.
